Love the Chief! The Chief is an overstable putt and approach disc with a very flat top, low profile, low rim depth, and moderate bead. Even with it’s high speed stability it has minimal fade on the end of the flight. The Chief is great for both backhand and forehand approach shots and is excellent for headwind putts. The low profile and shallow rim depth makes it feel fantastic for forehand approaches to me and it is overstable enough to handle moderate snap on forehand throws. The Chief will not turn over easily without help from a strong headwind. There aren’t many discs on the market to compare a Chief to. Throwing this disc has brought the most “What disc was that?” questions my way. Everyone loves the way it flies...which is dead straight. The closest to the Chief that I have thrown is a Zone, but a Zone is significantly more overstable than a Chief. I prefer the stability of the Chief but unfortunately Gateway will not make the Chief in anything other than their cheapest plastic that gets beat and warped way too easily. I just put my ESP Zone on an “accelerated path” to being beaten in and it flies more like I want for it to. As of this review the only plastic option that you have for the Chief is the S-Series plastic which feels great but beats in and warps way to easily in this mold. If Gateway makes this disc in their E-Series plastic, I will be a Chief carrier for sure. Please Gateway! Please!
