Course Description:
Sister City park in Pocatello, ID was a fun course to play. The front 7 offer little challenge at between 200 and 300 ft per hole accross mostly an open field. There are trees and with well placed baskets, we found the front 7 to be very enjoyable. This is a city park, so there were a few people and kids to be mindful of. A good warm up. This park is on the top of a hill (actually the peak of the hill) and number 8 lets you know it. I learned a new term in disc golf on this course - spotter! Numbers 8 - 18 get very challenging because you leave the improved park area. They play down into the 5 foot tall sage brush and 15 foot tall juniper trees around the side of the hill. What fun! Thowing around the curves of the hill, across the valley along the side of the hill, up the side of the hill, great variety! I would guess around 150 to 200 feet vertical change and this course goes up and down it a lot. This is where you get to open up with your driver. Many holes in the 350 - 450 rang and I think 1 over 500. The back 10 holes are still under improvement, but with continued use, this course will be great! The signage is poor at this point but we spoke with a few of the local players and they said that that is their focus right now for improvement. Don't let that keep you from playing this course. We downloaded a course map from the web and didn't have much trouble the first time through. Don't play this course alone. Take a spotter for the back 10. There are a lot of blind shots and if you don't have someone watching your disc, the sage brush will eat it!
We liked this course so much we played it 3 times straight through! Cudos to Pocatello on this one.
